Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra performing

In the Year of the Woman – and the 10th anniversary year of the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra – the Black Pearls are celebrating the contributions of African-American women composers and performers of classical music.

On March 6 at the Barnes, the orchestra will perform works of Florence Price, the first African-American  woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer, and the first to have a composition played by a major orchestra.

This concert has been generously underwritten by a grant from the Presser Foundation.
