Honor trailblazing women past and present!
Be among the 2,500 people in the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall as we recognize women who broke down barriers for themselves and others. A celebratory reception in the lobby follows the ceremony.
This joyful celebration of American women will begin with a ceremony featuring rousing music, amusing performance segments and a salute to 100 women who have blazed trails for others to follow in a multitude of fields — from business and government to athletics, education and entertainment.
Afterward, guests will move to the Kimmel Center lobby for food, drinks and conversation.
One highlight of the ceremony will be presentation of the prestigious Woman One Award. Since 2003, the award has been given annually to a woman who demonstrates exceptional leadership. The 16 honorees thus far have included community, government, business and nonprofit leaders; civic activists and philanthropists; a journalist, an educator and an Olympic gold medalist.
The annual award is given by the Institute of Women’s Health and Leadership at Drexel University College of Medicine. It raises money that promotes diversity in medicine by awarding scholarships to talented women from under-represented groups who are studying to be physicians.
